We have some amazing children in our congregation. And when I feel grieved by the state of our world or fearful for what the future holds, I am comforted by the children among us who are full of curiosity, passion, and love for the world and all its creatures. They are navigating life in the fullest sense: looking for belonging, making friends and sometimes feeling lonely; playing hard, striving to be the best athlete, student, or performer they can be, and worrying about making mistakes. They are being pushed by parents and neglected by parents. Yet most of the time they act with kindness. They listen to one another’s concerns, they encourage one another and even encourage the adults in their lives. I am grateful for their voices and their witness.

I’m happy that Franklin County Schools wants to hear from our children and learn from their experiences. And I’m even happier to share that Parker Johnson, one of our own, has been selected to represent Collins Lane Elementary as part of the Franklin County Schools District Student Voice Team for the 2026-27 school year. The team collaborates with school officials, offering students’ perspectives and feedback on key district initiatives. It is a big honor to be chosen as a representative.

Parker is a fourth grader at Collins Lane where he participates in the Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP), the Kindness Club and the Run Club. He is also a Junior Deacon at FCC and part of our Children’s Choir.

If you see Parker, be sure to congratulate him. And when you see any of our kids, be sure to be inspired. They are impressive.

Condolences:

Our condolences are with Kenny Dunavent and Family upon the passing of Kenny’s Mother, Loretta.  She died Friday, September 25th.  Services were held September 29th in Owenton, KY.

Our condolences are with Shawn and Valerie Ramsey and Family upon the passing of Shawn’s Father Lyndell. Services were held out of state on Tuesday, September 29th.

Our condolences are with Henrietta Evans and Family upon the passing of her Sister-in-Law Jan Evans.  Arrangements are pending.

Weekly Prayer:

God of life, we look to you for refuge in the face of our struggles. Be with us God. Make yourself known to us through the people who surround us and care for us. And use us too, O God, to make your love known to others. Amen.

Hoping to be deliberate about our prayer life, we are updating our prayer list. People who are Friends of FCC will remain on the prayer list for one month and then we will rely on you to add them to the prayer list again if needed.

JOIN US FOR FIRST SUNDAY LUNCH

This Sunday, Sandy Rhodes is preparing her pork loin meal with new potatoes, green beans, salad with poppy seed dressing, rolls and brownies and ice cream for dessert.  This meal has always been a fan favorite and is sure to please!

There are baskets on the tables to accept your donations toward the grocery bill and just so you know - any leftovers are taken to the Soup Kitchen for their supper! There will be no breakfast service October 4th but snacks will be provided at the door of the Fellowship Hall prior to worship. 

We all look forward to seeing you in Fellowship Hall following worship THIS Sunday!

WOMEN’S LUNCH OUTING

All women of the Church are invited to attend the Women’s monthly luncheon this Thursday, October 8th, at 11:30 am at First Watch Restaurant.

HELP NEEDED

The Property Committee is asking for volunteers on Friday, October 9th, to help replace the light bulbs in the Sanctuary Lanterns.  Some stained glass pieces on the Lanterns will also be replaced.  If you can help, work is scheduled to begin at 9:00am. If you have any questions, contact Mike Harrod or Dennis Hooker.  

Also on Saturday, October 10th, from 9am to 11am, it is time to spruce up for the Sanctuary for the holidays! Join us in the Sanctuary to help clean the pews. If you are able to help, please touch base with Leslie Stamper.

CANDY DONATIONS NEEDED

FCC is again a Gold Sponsor for the Pride Festival on October 10th. We will have a booth with a community art project and will be handing out Halloween candy and FCC literature. We are asking for candy donations from the congregation no later than Sunday, October 4 to be dropped off in the office or work room. In addition, if you would like to volunteer to “work” in the booth, please call LeeAnn Snelling at 502-319-3802. As always, thank you for being such a loving, giving community! 

SERVICE PROJECT SUPPORT

Our Youth Group’s Intergenerational Service Project will be Sunday, October 11th 12:00-2:00pm. We’re asking for volunteers to help transport donations from FCC to the Crisis Nursery. Let Brian Tramontin know if you are able to help.

This challenge will be a little bit different from our last goal.  You can support this challenge through your pocket change donations as before, but the Children’s Ministry team has created an Amazon Wish List with specific items for the space.  This new way of supporting the Children’s Ministry will allow those who would like to make a one-time specified purchase toward the remodel.  All funds gathered toward this challenge will be used to purchase items for the remodel from other sources or, if needed, from the Wish List as well.

The deacons would like to again thank our church family for the continued support of our Children’s Ministry.
