Educators, school administrators, and families with children or grandchildren are living in the back-to-school transition marked by excitement, nervousness, “I can’t believe summer is over already”, “I need a return to the school year routine”, and the busyness of back-to-school bashes and athletic practice schedules. Whew! Personally, I will be ready for school to start sometime after we’ve dropped our kids off for their first day. Until then, there seem to be endless back to school clothing, shoes, and school supply needs, last minute summer activities to squeeze in, and college parent meetings to attend.

Such is life. Whether or not you are impacted by the school-year transition, life is full of transitions, and it is a comfort to trust that God meets us in seasons of change, busyness, uncertainty, and new beginnings. My favorite scripture when I was in grade school was Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and he will make your paths straight.” I’m reassured by this hope that God is leading us through all life’s transitions. Even though the paths don’t always feel or look straight, holding to faith seems to offer the next right step.

Whatever transition lies ahead, may we trust that God is already there, faithfully guiding us one step at a time.

Hoping to be deliberate about our prayer life, we are updating our prayer list. People who are Friends of FCC will remain on the prayer list for one month and then we will rely on you to add them to the prayer list again if needed.

SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE FOR FCC TEACHERS

By the time Christmas rolls around, classroom supplies like tissues and hand sanitizer are often running low. While these essentials are commonly donated at the beginning of the school year, teachers frequently find themselves purchasing replacements with their own money when supplies run out.

This year, we have seven teachers* in our FCC family we can support: Brian and Lorrie Devers, Ray Danicki, Sara Floyd, Rachel Gowins, Michaela Manning, and Valerie Ramsey.

Let’s help our teachers start the school year well—and make sure they have the supplies they need all year long!

⚠️ BE ALERT FOR PHISHING EMAILS

We want to remind everyone to be cautious about suspicious emails, especially invitations that appear to come from Evite.

There is currently a phishing email circulating in church circles that looks like an Evite invitation. The biggest red flag is that the link takes you to a website that is not Evite and then asks you to log in using your email account. This is a common way scammers try to steal your login information.

Before clicking a link or entering your password, take a moment to check where the link is actually taking you. When in doubt, don't click!

When something looks suspicious, trust your instincts and verify before you click.

TRAFFIC & PARKING ALERT

The City of Frankfort began a major sewer and utility repair project last Monday that will affect traffic patterns on Ann St. and Broadway for the next three weeks. Here is a link to that information so you can plan accordingly for your church visit.

If you enjoy singing or even just spending time with a fun group - join us! The choir meets every Wednesday in the Sanctuary. We rehearse from six until seven-ish. This is a great time to join, as we begin looking at our music for the rest of the year including Christmas. See you there!

FALL FLING

It will soon be fall, and we are planning the November 4 Fall Fling.  There will be a Yard Sale, Gourmet Table and Chili Luncheon.

Please start looking for clean, gently used items in  working condition for the Yard Sale. Please no clothes, shoes or books.  Jewelry and handbags are fine.  You can place your items in the DWM Room on the 3rd floor. 

We will also need volunteers for working the day of the Fling, early sorting, set-up, take-down, collecting money, etc.
